Clarissa Stolte, LPC

ANXIETY, Relationships, & relational Trauma THERAPIST IN Texas

It’s time to make a change & start living the life you want.

Your life has been a series of challenging relationships and painful past experiences. Some days you may feel as if you're just trying to get by, pretending to be someone you're not, or just watching life from the sidelines. You feel like your past constantly interferes with your goals for the future, leading to negative cycles of behavior you’re not proud of and that don't align with your values. You're struggling to control your feelings, wrestling with a nagging inner voice that makes you question who you are and the choices you make. Ready for something different?

You’re in the right place!

Meet Clarissa,

As a wife and the mother of two little boys, I understand the struggle to navigate the windy roads of life while trying to take care of yourself as well. I’ve walked the same path as you and understand the challenge of letting go of those persistent negative emotions and thoughts while climbing out of the depths of low self-esteem after years of being gaslighted and put down. Finding confidence in yourself and in your relationships with loved ones, be it your partner, family, or friends, can sometimes feel like an impossible task. You might even think you should have left those issues behind by now, only to find them resurfacing and impacting your new relationships years later, leaving you puzzled about whether it's just "old baggage" or something more.

My training and years of experience in a variety of different issues mean I have the expertise you need. Working together, we’ll develop a personalized roadmap based on your individual needs and goals. While I'll bring my know-how and experience on this journey, you're leading this proverbial road trip, determining what we cover in your sessions and how far we venture into the depths of your concerns. I'll never push you to discuss something you're not ready to.

Our internal worlds and lived experiences will certainly be different but I know what it’s like to feel alone, misunderstood, and the feeling of being stuck with no clear path ahead. I'm here to tell you that if you're struggling with these challenges, it doesn't signify any flaw within you. We all encounter moments when we could use a helping hand on the road to healing, and you don't have to navigate it all by yourself.

Therapy with me isn’t all sitting & talking.

We’ll also work on real, practical skills that you can apply to your day-to-day life.

I work with clients who struggle with feeling anxious, stressed, and unsure of themselves, and who struggle with relationships move beyond mere survival and towards a better quality of life. I have years of experience in working with both adults and teens to develop healthy coping and communication skills, understand how to build healthy relationships, and improve self-esteem and confidence. Clients choose me as their therapist because they're eager to begin the journey towards feeling better, gaining confidence, and start living more authentic lives.

Your therapy journey will be as unique and individual as you. The direction of our time together will be driven by your goals and the issues you are struggling with. We'll often focus on and address the issues that are impacting you the most on a day-to-day basis. This will look like learning grounding and coping skills, communication skills, and boundary setting. Other times, we may venture into your past, exploring old patterns that need breaking, challenging old negative thoughts, and improving your connection with yourself and others. Helping you gain insight into your present-day problems. Regardless of where you are on this journey, my hope is that you'll gain valuable insights regarding the why behind your feelings, thoughts, and behaviors and learn how you can see the change you desire and finally live the life you truly want.

As your therapist, I will support & encourage you in our collaborative journey!

I’ll also challenge you to be your best self. I will never shy away from sharing my own experiences or mistakes if you can benefit from them, and, above all, I am willing to get into — and sit in — the “uncomfortable” right alongside you.

Counseling is about learning to be a human in relationship with others.

With me, you’ll find a safe, empathic, non-judgmental space to practice that. My goal is that you leave every session with me feeling that your time was productive and well spent. This will look different every week — therapy doesn’t have to be a rigid step-by-step process — from simply processing the events of the past week to diving more deeply into past experiences to cultivate new skills to use in your day-to-day life.

Why Desert Roots Counseling?

The cactus teaches us that even in the harshest conditions, we have within us the power to survive and thrive!

Cactus are very symbolic and represent strength, resilience, and the ability to adapt to challenging situations and environments. Much like a cactus, you are more resilient than you may realize and capable of overcoming hardships from your past. Doing so through learning resilience, adaptability, personal boundaries, and self-growth. The cactus teaches us that even in the harshest conditions, we have within us the power to survive and thrive.

With my roots in rural west Texas (part of the Chihuahuan Desert), resources and accessibility are aspects that are always strongly valued when you live in the middle of nowhere. This is why I value making my services accessible across all of Texas no matter where you live or your lifestyle.

The past doesn’t have a determine the future. Let's find a better way forward.
